Terms of Service
Effective date: March 7, 2026
Plain English summary: Secrets are one-time use — once retrieved or expired, they are gone forever with no recovery. You are responsible for your API keys. Paid plans are billed via Stripe and eligible for a 30-day refund on new subscriptions. Don't use Zephr for illegal purposes or to circumvent usage limits.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using the Zephr service (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of service
Zephr is a zero-knowledge one-time secret transport service. Before a secret is uploaded, it is encrypted in your browser using AES-GCM-256. The server stores only the resulting ciphertext and cannot decrypt or read your secrets. Each secret link may be retrieved exactly once; after retrieval, the secret is permanently and irrevocably made inaccessible and physically removed from storage within 60 minutes.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are using a paid tier, you must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract (at least 18 years old in most jurisdictions). By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.
4. Accounts
- Each email address may be registered to one account.
- You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your API keys. Treat API keys as passwords — do not share them or commit them to version control.
- Disposable and temporary email addresses (e.g., services that generate one-time inboxes) are not permitted for registration.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms without prior notice.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Share content that is illegal under United States law or the laws of your jurisdiction.
- Circumvent rate limits or usage quotas through artificial means, including rotating IP addresses, creating multiple accounts for the purpose of exceeding limits, or automated abuse.
- Probe, scan, attack, or attempt to reverse-engineer Zephr's infrastructure, APIs, or security controls.
- Resell, sublicense, or white-label the Service without a separate written agreement with Zephr Technologies.
- Interfere with the Service's availability for other users.
6. Service limits
Usage of the Service is subject to the following limits by tier:

Monthly quotas for authenticated tiers reset on the first day of each calendar month. We reserve the right to adjust these limits with reasonable notice.
7. No recovery
Secrets are permanently and irrevocably destroyed after the first retrieval, or after the expiry time has passed. Zephr has no backup mechanism and no administrative ability to recover consumed, expired, or lost secrets. Do not use Zephr as your only copy of critical information.
8. Billing and payments
- Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually via Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.
- New subscriptions are eligible for a full refund within 30 days of the initial purchase. To request a refund, email contact@zephr.io.
- Subscription downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to your current tier's limits until then.
- We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. Existing active subscribers will receive at least 30 days' notice before a price change takes effect.
- Failure to pay may result in suspension or downgrade of your account to the free tier.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violations of these Terms, abuse, or non-payment, with or without notice. You may cancel your account at any time by contacting contact@zephr.io. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Zephr Technologies does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from security vulnerabilities.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Zephr Technologies' total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service is limited to the greater of: (a) the total amount you paid to Zephr Technologies in the 12 months immediately preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD.
In no event shall Zephr Technologies be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of business opportunity, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Zephr Technologies and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered users via email at least 14 days before the updated Terms take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
